Cherries are the first fruit to ripen in the orchard.
And soon after, there are blackcurrants and blueberries.
The blueberries ripen gradually, right up until the first frost.
Then come plums, apples, and pears.
In August, September, and October, all varieties ripen one after the other.
The latest varieties are only really ready to eat after Christmas.
If all goes well, there will be good apples for eight months.
Elderberries are ready in early September.
You pick apples and pears in the red “picking bags.” They can be opened at the bottom and emptied without damaging the apples.
In October, the colors are changing.
October is also the month when we start making apple juice.
First, the apples are cut into small pieces.
Then they are pressed in the apple press.
Then the must is boiled down and poured into jars.
